Jonathan Clark (jeclark@fsu.edu)

Jonathan Clark joined the department of mechanical engineering and founded the STRIDe lab in 2007. Previous to this he completed a postdoc with Dan Koditschek in the GRASP Lab at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his M.S and Ph.D. in 2000 and 2004 in Mechanical Engineering under the direction of Mark Cutkosky in the design division of the Mechanical Engineering department at Stanford University. He completed his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering at Brigham Young University (BYU).

Camilo Ordonez (camilor@eng.fsu.edu)

Dr. Camilo Ordonez is a teaching faculty at the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering. He received both his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Florida State University in 2006 and 2010. He also holds a B.S. degree in Electronics Engineering from Pontificia Bolivariana University in Colombia. During his undergraduate studies, Camilo was an exchange student in the department of Electrical Engineering at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. After receiving his B.S. degree, Camilo joined Total Seguridad Ltda as a support engineer in the area of electronic security systems. He joined the STRIDe Lab in the spring of 2010. His current research interests include navigation of autonomous wheeled and legged robots on off road terrain, terrain classification and characterization, and control systems.

Postdoctoral Researchers

Bruce Miller (bdmiller@fsu.edu)

Dr. Bruce Miller is a postdoctoral scholar at the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering. He holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Florida State University. He jointed the STRIDe Lab in the fall of 2009. His current work focus on the biological mechanisms that enable high-speed performance in various regimes while developing mechanisms that will enable rapid adaptability for small-scale platforms.

Daniel Blackman (dbj14c@my.fsu.edu)

Daniel Blackman is a graduate student at the Florida State University College of Engineering pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. He joined the STRIDe lab in January 2015. Daniel received dual BS-BA degrees in Biochemistry and Physics (respectively) from Edinboro University of PA in 2013 and continued on to receive a M.Eng. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University in 2014. His current research focuses on robotic leg design through experimental evaluation and simulation models.

Matthew Boler (mrb10g@my.fsu.edu)

Matthew is a graduate student at the Florida State University pursuing a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He joined the STRIDe lab in Summer 2015. He received his B.S. from Florida State University in Mechanical Engineering in Spring 2014. His research focuses on gait optimization of scansorial robots utilizing passive and active control systems.

Jason Brown (jmb10t@my.fsu.edu)

Jason Brown is a graduate student at the Florida State University pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. He joined the STRIDe Lab in January 2014. Jason received his B.S. from Florida State University in Mechanical Engineering in Spring 2014. His research focuses on the modeling of dynamic running and climbing platforms in three dimensions.

Charles Carbiener (cpc10c@my.fsu.edu)

Charlie is a graduate student at the Florida State University pursuing a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He has participated in research in the STRIDe lab since Summer 2013. Charlie received his B.S. from Florida State University in Mechanical Engineering in Spring 2014. His research focuses on the design and optimization of multi-modal quadrapedal robotic platforms.

Robert Cook (rbc14c@my.fsu.edu)

Robert Cook is a graduate student at the Florida State University pursuing a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering. He joined the STRIDe Lab in May 2015. Robert received his B.S. from Vanderbilt University in Mechanical Engineering in Spring 2014. His research focuses on adaptive manipulators and how they can be used in dynamic running.

Wei Gao (wg14@my.fsu.edu)

Wei is a graduate student at the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering, pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. He received a B.S. from Northwestern Polytechnical University in China in 2011 and then affiliated with China Aviation Industry General Aircraft Co., Ltd. He joined the STRIDe Lab in Fall 2014 and has been focusing on the application of smart materials onto robotic platforms.

Tyler is a graduate student at Florida State University pursing a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He received a Fine Arts degree from Florida State in the Fall of 2007 with a focus in sculpture. He Joined the STRIDe Lab in May 2015, focusing on the incorporation of artistic aesthetics in robotic design

Yuze Liu (ly13b@my.fsu.edu)

Yuze is a graduate student at the Florida State University pursuing a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He joined the STRIDe Lab in January 2014. Yuze received his B.S. from Anhui University of Technology in Mechanical Engineering in July 2014.He is doing the research related to the climbing robot.

  Charles Young (cay03c@my.fsu.edu)

Chip joined the STRIDe Lab in August 2014 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the Florida State University (FSU). He completed a B.S.M.E. in 2008 and an M.S.I.E. in 2012, both from FSU. From 2007 to 2012, Chip was a co-op student in the Robotics Group of the Air Force Research Laboratory's Materials Directorate (AFRL-RXQE) located at Tyndall AFB, Panama City, FL. During 2009-12, he also received a graduate research assistantship at the High Performance Materials Institute while studying carbon nanotube- and carbon fiber-reinforced thermoset polymer composites. Presently, his research focus is the modeling and development of attachment mechanisms for scansorial robots and the light-weighting of these platforms.
